Lexington, Kentucky is conveniently located at the heart of the Eastern United States and just a day's drive from more than 70% of the U.S. population. Surrounded by rolling hills of bluegrass and more than 450 horse farms, the "Horse Capital of the World", is the perfect backdrop for your event and a unique destination that will attract participants and fans!
Horse Capital of the World ..... but so much more - Lexington hosts International, National, Regional and State Championships in events across the sports spectrum!

Lexington is a regular host of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championships!  Additionally, Lexington has hosted National Championship Events for the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), National Police Athletic League, USA Track & Field, USA Ultimate, and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), along with many other sports associations and organizations. Additionally, the U.S. Equestrian Federation, U.S. Dressage Federation, and U.S. Hunter Jumper Association choose Lexington and the Kentucky Horse Park for many of their National Champion Events. The Kentucky Horse Park plays host each April to the International Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, which is one of only six three-day events in the world that are ranked at the highest four stars (CCI****) level.  Guests to these events continue to point out Lexington’s central location, affordable hospitality community; great hotel rates, free airport shuttles and complimentary hotel guest parking, as some of the many reasons to bring or attend an event in Lexington!

We take our sports competitions very seriously, and at the top of the list is our love of Basketball and the Big Blue Nation of the University of Kentucky!  Iconic Rupp Arena is home court to the Wildcats and a regular host site of both the NCAA DI Men’s and NCAA DI Women’s Basketball Regional Tournaments. It is easy to see how important basketball is to the Bluegrass, but Lexington is not a one-trick-sports pony! The Commonwealth Soccer Club hosts two large annual regional soccer tournaments bringing teams to Central Kentucky from across Southern and Midwestern States. The University of Kentucky and Transylvania University partner with VisitLEX to bring NCAA, Southeastern Conference (SEC), and Heartland Conference Volleyball, Baseball, Softball, Tennis, Soccer and Swimming championships to Lexington!

Running in the Bluegrass is most associated with our championship thoroughbred horses, but USA Track and Field, AAU and the National Cross Country Coaches have selected Lexington to host numerous National Cross Country Championships and Track & Field events including; USATF National Club Cross Country Championships, USATF Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships, USATF Region 5 Outdoor Track & Field Championships, AAU Cross Country Championships, and the National Cross Country Coaches National Youth Championships.
Sports championships are not limited to Professional and Collegiate events, each year VisitLEX is honored to partner with the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) in hosting many of their high school state championships including; Whitaker Bank/KHSAA State Boys Basketball Sweet Sixteen Championships, Rawlings/KHSAA State Baseball Championships, KHSAA State Wrestling Championships, KHSAA State Soccer Championships, KHSAA State Competitive Cheer Competition and the KHSAA State Cross Country Championships. Together, these sporting events bring thousands of participants and spectators to our community each year to enjoy the events and see the many unique Bluegrass attractions including; the Kentucky Horse Park, Keeneland Race Course, Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill and our many World Famous Bourbon Distilleries!
Get-in-the-game and contact Lexington about your next event!
