Bluegrass Sports Commission
The Bluegrass Sports Commission is a non-profit corporation, whose primary mission is to promote the Central Kentucky region (Bourbon, Clark, Fayette, Franklin, Jessamine, Madison, Scott and Woodford counties) as a destination for sports related events on the state, regional, national and international competition levels that have an economic impact, marquee value and enhance the quality of life for the citizens of the Central Kentucky region.
Lexington and the Central Kentucky Region are proud to have hosted or will host the following:
· Little League Baseball International World Congress Convention-2010
· National Association of Sports Commission Sports Events Symposium-2006
· 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games
· NCAA Men’s’ (1985) and Women’s’ (1986) Final Four – Rupp Arena
· KHSAA Boys’ Sweet 16 Basketball Tournament
· AAU National Basketball Tournaments – Division I & II (9U, 10U, 11U, & 12U)
· National Wheelchair Basketball Association National Championships – 2006, 2007 & 2008
· Bluegrass State Games – Commonwealth’s largest multi-sport competition with over 15,000 participants annually
· Fifth Third Bank Tennis Championships
· Cincinnati Bengals Pre-Season Training Camp – Georgetown College
· Lexington Legends – “A” affiliate of the Houston Astros
· The Bourbon Chase
· Tour of the Red River Gorge
· Rupp Arena (23,000) – home of the University of Kentucky Men’s Basketball
· Commonwealth Stadium – Home of the University Of Kentucky
· Kentucky Horse Park – site of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games
