Globe Travelers to perform in Augusta
March 08, 2010
The Harlem Globe Travelers, a spin-off of the original Harlem
Globetrotters, will be playing an exhibition basketball game at the
Panthers Den at Augusta High School on Friday, March 26, at 7
p.m.
The founder of the Globe Travelers, Lamont "Show Boat" Robinson,
has toured more than 20 years in professional basketball, and 12 of
those years were with the Harlem Roadkings. He was inspired by
former Globetrotters great Meadowlark Lemon.
In addition to the game against the Augusta All Stars, Robinson
will be speaking to the young people in attendance about the
importance of family and saying no to drugs.
Doors will open at 6 p.m., and tickets are available from any
Panthers player or coach for $8. Tickets will also be available at
the door for $10, and all proceeds will benefit the Augusta
Athletic Department. For more information, contact Robin Kelsch or
Mary Zeigler at (606) 756-2105.
