?We?re in the process of sending out invitations to the best high school seniors in the nation. It should be another outstanding game,? said Dan Owens, Recruiting Chair for the Classic. ?Basketball fans will be anxious to get a first look at players who will have an impact on the game for years to come. Our game is a great chance to see these talented players up close and personal.?

First held in 1973, the Derby Festival Basketball Classic is the second-oldest continuously-held high school all-star game in the nation. In 1987, the Classic set a record for attendance with a crowd of 19,041 at Freedom Hall. Players such as Jamal Mashburn, Moses Malone, Rex Chapman, Pervis Ellison, Isiah Thomas, Dominique Wilkins, Darrell Griffith, Derek Anderson, Anfernee Hardaway and Michael Beasley have starred in the Classic.
